The Okefenokee Heritage Center celebrated its 50th anniversary on Saturday evening, May 31st, with a Golden Bowl Celebration. In true OHC spirit, the evening was family-friendly, casual, and tailored toward community connections. The festivities, held from 6 to 9 p.m., flowed through the venues’ galleries and included a viewing of Reimagine: Contemporary Georgia Artists 2025-2026 Traveling Exhibition in the main gallery. The Okefenokee Heritage Center is one of only ten rural art galleries selected by the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Georgia Council for the Arts to host Reimagine, which closed June 20th. In the depot, guests enjoyed catering by Zels of downtown Waycross. Adults and children alike enjoyed the running model train and the depot exhibit. The highlight of the evening was the rocking tunes from Little Satilla Band, who kept feet tapping and folks swaying on the large dance floor in the historic OHC Warehouse.
