Judge Ben Smith Art Competition

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Applicant may be an amateur or professional artist.
  • Applicant may submit up to two (2) original entries.
  • Entries may not be over three (3) years old.
  • Two-dimensional entries may not exceed 42” in height or width, including frame.
  • Three-dimensional entries must be stable and not exceedingly large or heavy.
  • Entries may not have won an award in any previous OHC Juried Art Exhibition or Ben Smith Art Competition.
  • All accepted works must remain at the OHC for the duration of the exhibition.
  • All accepted works must be for sale.
  • All entries must be eligible as indicated above, and suitable for family viewing prior to being accepted for the Judge Ben
  • Smith Art Competition.

All two-dimensional works must be framed and ready for hanging with proper WIRE hanging system. NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS OR CLIPS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Sales are encouraged! Entries should be priced with the understanding that the Okefenokee Heritage Center will receive 25% commission on each sale. All sales transactions should be completed by the closing date of the exhibition. Any works sold must remain on exhibition.

Timeline TBC for 2017
Entry Form & Fees Due – Mid to end September 2017
Original Entries Delivered to OHC – September 2017
Awards Ceremony & Reception – October TBC, 2:30 p.m. 2017
Exhibition – October – November 2017
Pick-Up of Unsold Entries – mid November  from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Fees & Entry Forms TBC for 2017
$30 per artist for maximum of two entries (OHC members) or $35 per artist for a maximum of two entries (non-members). Entries, entry fees and forms MUST be in the OHC office by due date. Checks should be made payable to the OHC.
Entries. Forms and Fee should be delivered to:
Okefenokee Heritage Center, 1460 N. Augusta Ave., Waycross, Ga. 31503

All entries must be shipped or hand delivered to OHC during hour. Hand delivery is recommended, how-ever entries may be shipped prepaid in reusable crates or sturdy cartons. No C.O.D.s will be accepted. Deliver all entries to:
Okefenokee Heritage Center, 1460 N. Augusta Ave., Waycross, Ga. 31503.

All entries must be picked up. The Okefenokee Heritage Center will not have adequate storage space to store your works after this date. If you want us to return your work by mail, you must provide a return address label and check payable to:
Okefenokee Heritage Center to cover return postage fees.

Although the utmost care will be taken in handling the entries, neither the Okefenokee Heritage Center nor its representatives will be responsible for damage or loss whatsoever the cause. Artists are encouraged to carry their own insurance.
The Okefenokee Heritage Center reserves the right to reproduce works for publicity purposes, unless otherwise stated in writing.
